Since its launch, BeOH has organised several events and activities, all of which are listed below, in reverse chronological order.
2025 – EVENT ‘ECOSYSTEMS IN THE BALANCE’
This two-day event took place in Brussels on 22 and 23 January 2025. It addressed human, animal, and environmental health issues, focusing on the role of environmental factors influencing possible pathways of infectious disease emergence, and on prevention, early warning mechanisms and effective preparedness solutions.

2024 - WORKSHOP ‘INNOVATION’
A One Health workshop on Innovation was organised on 29 January 2024. The workshop’s goal was to brainstorm on the potential of using existing and new sensors and their data to monitor and surveil new and existing pathogens in wastewater and air. It gathered scientists from several universities, scientific institutes such as Sciensano, and people from industry with relevant expertise.

2021 - JOINING BELGIAN FORCES FOR A ONE HEALTH GREEN DEAL
In 2021, a coordinated One Health approach across sectors was urgently needed. As the COVID-19 pandemic was still going strong, and climate disasters were known to affect vital determinants of health—clean air, safe drinking water, sufficient food and secure shelter—the Belgian One Health network (BeOH) organised a virtual conference on how the EU Green Deal could be best supported in Belgium from a One Health perspective. The Belgian Biodiversity Platform takes you through the highlights of the event.

2020 - SURVEY ON COVID-19 VISION
The COVID-19 pandemic was one of the most important crises in Belgium and Europe since WWII. To avoid new systemic shocks—whether environmental, health, or other nature—we needed a broader vision and a long-term strategy that jointly addresses socio-economic, environmental and health challenges and can make the post-crisis society and economy more resilient, sustainable and fair. At the same time, the Green Deal is the new EU growth strategy that aims to transform the EU into a fair and prosperous society, with a modern, resource-efficient and competitive economy.
In the summer of 2020, a survey was organised among the Belgian One Health community on their COVID-19 experiences. This information was presented as key overall lessons from the COVID-19 crisis in the report: 'Lessons learnt from COVID-19, results of a Belgian One Health survey'.
2019 - BEOH LAUNCH EVENT
The launch event of the BeOH network took place on 5 November 2019 at Sciensano's premises, in Tervuren.
